Amsterdam Food Guide

I honestly didn't know how amazing the food in Amsterdam would be - I'd genuinely next time I go take a food tour as I know I didn't even scratch the surface for places to eat!
We tried so much food while we were away, so I thought I'd share where we found for great breakfasts, snacks and places for lunch/dinner - if we had breakfast we found we were too full to eat lunch sometimes so we didn't eat nearly as much food as I'd have liked!

The Breakfast Club Amsterdam
On our first full day in Amsterdam I decided to take us off to The Breakfast Club for our first meal of the day. I mean how could we not have breakfast here?! I stupidly forgot to take a picture of my food - just think of the most amazing looking pancakes with bananas, berries and a strange but sweet butter on the side - but Davids "brunch" shows how big the portions were! I got the New York Pancakes and David got a Philly Cheese Steak - I genuinely think if there's a Philly Cheese Steak on the menu David has to eat it as everywhere we've gone that has one, he's ended up getting it!
David couldnt even pick his food up and eat it, it was that big! He ended up having to eat the insides first then eat the bread. For the amount of food we got the price was really good, I think we only paid about 26 Euro for everything we ate and drank!
Blueberry Pancakes from Pancakes Amsterdam
Keeping on the breakfast theme, after an early visit to Anne Frank's House we decided to go next door to Pancakes Amsterdam, we both chose the American pancakes with maple syrup and blueberries - it was a real struggle to pick which pancakes to get as they had loooooads to choose from!
These pancakes were amazing though - the blueberries were actually cooked into the pancake - so yummy!

Lets talk lunch and dinner now! Vegan Junk Food Bar is somewhere I'd seen on someone else's blog and decided I needed to go. I'm trying to minimise the amount of meat I eat, along with trying not to consume any dairy too (thinking in 2018 I might go Vegan...) so really wanted to try a completely vegan restaurant. David wasn't too keen on the idea of going but said yes as I really wanted to go - but he actually really enjoyed it! We both got the Original VJFB Burger and it was amazing! I genuinely don't think you'd know that it was vegan if you tried it. The sauce they used in it was a little spicy but so blooming good! Can Glasgow please get something like this please? All the junk food minus the meat.
If your craving a real meat burger, I'd say that the Bull Dog Palace made a really good burger - it was so dark in there though that there was absolutely zero point in taking a photo of it as you'd never see it.
Spaghetteria Amsterdam
The last note worthy place for dinner we went (although not the last place we ate) is Spaghetteria PastaBar. Apologies for the terrible photo quality, but the food was amazing. I didn't get a photo of Davids food which was a pasta with muscles and some kind of sauce - it was amazing, annoyed I didn't get it. And I got the wild boar pasta, this was amazing as well but Davids was just that little bit nicer!
The pasta was fresh and the restaurant was lovely and homely! Its not a touristy place at all I don't think and definitely seems like it would be popular with the locals!
Vlaase Frites
Lets talk snacks now! Vlaamse Frites (its halfway between Madame Toussands and the Sex Museum) had amazing chips! We went for a cheesy sauce on top and god damn they were good! They actually say they're the number 1 chips in Holland!!!
Original Stroopwaffle Albert Cuyp Market
Original Stroopwaffle Albert Cuyp Market
Next up to tantalise your taste buds is the Original Stroopwaffles! They're found in the Albert Cuyp Market and you will not regret getting one! David and I got one of the large ones between us, I think it was about 3.5 euros? Which considering the size and how amazing it tasted is an absolute bargain! The guy running the van was so friendly and funny, my only regret is that we didn't  go back for more.
Also in the market is a stall for Pofferjes! Tiny beautiful little fluffy pancakes, I'd also highly recommend getting these, we didn't pay for extra toppings but if you want syrup on top go for it, they're little round balls of heaven and I miss eating them dearly.

I'm just gonna put this out there, these were the best cookies I've ever had. Van Stapele only sell the one type of cookie, a dark chocolate with a gooey white chocolate centre but they are divine, they also near enough have a queue out the door!  We visited twice while in Amsterdam as they were that good! They're open 10-6 everyday but I can imagine in the summer they'll sell out before they're due to close, theres even a limit on how many you can buy. If your in Amsterdam, do your taste buds a favour and get yourself at least one of these - heck buy yourself a box and eat all 6 in one go.

Have you ever been to Amsterdam, did you try these foods or think I should have tried anywhere else?
