Amsterdam Food Guide

I honestly didn't know how amazing the food in Amsterdam would be - I'd genuinely next time I go take a food tour as I know I didn't even scratch the surface for places to eat!
We tried so much food while we were away, so I thought I'd share where we found for great breakfasts, snacks and places for lunch/dinner - if we had breakfast we found we were too full to eat lunch sometimes so we didn't eat nearly as much food as I'd have liked!

Glasgow Foods | Smoak

I buy a lot of Groupon food deals. And I mean a lot. I find it means I get to try places I probably wouldn't otherwise have tried. And this time I found myself in Smoak. I'd passed by it a few times while in town but never actually thought to go in. The deal was pretty good, I think it was like £12 for a burger and fries for two? Sounds about right...
Smoak is located right in the heart of Glasgow in Royal Exchange Square. They have seating indoors and out, as it was such an oddly beautiful day in Glasgow when we visited the outside area was mobbed. Inside has quite an industrial type feel to it, all woody and sort of westerny - my use of words is amazing aint it? They have a great selection of drinks from the usual sort drinks to milkshakes and even ice teas (they had sold out by the time we got their though, boo!)
The burgers themselves though were lovely, I went for the UMAMI 2.0. It was an amazing juicy burger with mushrooms, bacon, cheese and rocket - I opted for no onions as I'm no a fan. The chips are amazing too! I did that horrific thing of putting the sauce all over the chips - sorry not sorry.
David loved his burger too, he got a different one from me but I can't remember what one he picked, also he bit into it as soon as it came so no pictures of that one were obtained.
Smoak was really good though, prices were decent and the food was delicious. I'm sure at some point David and I will be back.

Glasgow foods | BRGR Giffnock

Heylo, so todays post is a foody one. I'd been the BRGR in the west end recently, and was craving another one of their amazing burgers. As I was staying in the south side I decided to give the Giffnock branch a go. Not gonna lie, the Giffnock branch wasn't as good as the West End version, but it was still so tasty and I'd definitely go back.
Inside BRGR the decor is really nice, the wall is designed with a cool graphic of foodie related things, along with the wall its got a nice industrial type feel to it. They've got lights made from big metal milk containers.
We ordered soooo much food, we both got the double bacon cheese burgers with a side of mac and cheese and poutine. It was all soooo good, David and I both love mac and cheese and BRGR's option is amazing! The burgers themselves are so good too, the West end Branch had a juicier burger I felt, but the Giffnock branch still had an amazing offering too. The burgers came with a wee cardboard holder, they're such a smart idea, makes eating a burger so much easier and cleaner. God bless.
The price for BRGR is amazing, all in this came to about £20! For high quality burgers at a low price, I'd highly recommend BRGR!

In Search For The Best Sushi In Glasgow | Cailin's Sushi Bar

I love me some sushi. I think I first tried Japanese food when my love obsession with Japan and Japanese culture was at its peak, at first I didn't try any sushi, but when I did I was hooked. Luckily for me, as I've got older I've found my friends share a similar love of sushi as I do. So myself and my lovely - and bestest - friend Gemma are on the hunt for the best sushi Glasgow has to offer. As I'm a shoddy blogger I forgot my big camera and to take pictures of the outside of the place, but the foods whats important so don't hate me too much!
We started our hunt in a place I'd already been before, Cailin's Sushi which is on Argyle Street towards Exhibition Centre.
When we first arrived I panicked because it looked like they were closed - which they were - but the girls that work there opened up literally as we got there. We had a look at the menu and ordered our food. I got Chicken Katsu Curry, Miso Soup, Crispy Chicken Sushi Rolls, California Sushi Rolls, Vegetable Onigiri and Ramune. My eyes were definitely bigger than my belly, but all that food only cost me around £25! Gemma got some pre made Tuna Nigiri, Chicken Katsu Curry and diet Coke, I think her food came to about £15.
Apologies for the snapchat band, I thought I saved this picture before changing it on snapchat, clearly I was wrong.

Onto the overall thoughts!

Overall Quality of Food - 10 10
Both Gemma and I thought the quality of the food was really high, the way the food was presented too was nice. The bento boxes made for a nice change to the usual massive bowl of Katsu Curry.
Variety of food 9 8
I thought the variety of food was great so I gave it a 9, Gemma too thought the variety was good but gave it a 8 - I think there was maybe something missing from the menu that she might have liked to have seen.

Atmosphere & service 6 6
We both gave a 6 for the atmosphere & service. Service from staff was quick, but its basically where the service ends. You pay, then they give you the food. If your looking for somewhere where they ask how you like your food then this isn't the place for you. The store is fairly small with just two longish tables and a bench if your waiting on your takeout order. Decoration wise theres not much going on, and although its not a bad atmosphere, its pretty basic hence it scoring low - also the door was left open and it was a little chilly, so that put us off giving a higher score too.

 Value for money 8 7
We both scored quite highly for this, Gemma gave it a score of 7 and I a score of 8.

JellyBear | Glasgow Eats

Jellybear is a semi recently opened up sweet shop in Merchant City, Ingram Street to be more exact. It's one of those places that once you see their facebook and the things they sell you instantly want to try them out and all the wonderful things they make. The outside of the building is covered in brown painted palettes, its a really quirky design - and the quirkyness carries on inside.
Next to where we decided to sit was this very accurate bit of wall art. I love dessert, and as much as I want a lovely body - the call of cake will always be too strong. The chairs were all padded with pink and grey cushioning, and all the table tops and stools/booth seats were brown wood. The booth seats were actually palettes as well - its one of those things you see on pintrest and want to try.

We decided to share a smoothie and a sundae, the smoothie we got was an amazing Blueberry smoothie - it was sooo good! I'm not certain how much it was exactly but I think it might have been about £4. The sundae we bought was absolutely amazing, the one we picked was The Knickerbocker Sundae - whipped cream, raspberries and raspberry sauce, ice cream then more sauce and berries! Both together were more than enough to share between the two of us. Connor was more than happy with what we got, and used the words oh my to describe the taste. His wee face, oh bubba. The sundaes are £6 and for the amount you get its so worth it!
I'll definitely be taking myself back to Jellybear at some point in the future - yum yum yum.

Degustabox | First Impressions

My friend has for the past few months raved about how amazing these Degustaboxes are - and this month I decided to go ahead and order myself one. This box, because of a discount code cost approx £10, full price they're approx £15.
I was fairly excited when I got home to this waiting for me. I'm a massive food lover so this was one of the coolest things.
The first thing I noticed in the box was Crabbies alcoholic ginger beers, I actually really like these so was really happy to have two in this box in flavours I hadn't tried!
Next up is packets of Baked Bread Bites that are bacon flavoured - I'm hoping these taste like frazzlers.
The box also had two packets of Lindt mini eggs - I will most certainly be devouring these!
My brother is most certainly benefiting from this - I hate, and I mean hate BBQ sauce - even the smell is horrid. But Scott snapped it up right away, so he's in heaven.
I love granola - its often not the best thing for you though. So its good to see this is slightly better for you than the standard.

I'm probably just going to hand this Chilli Con Carne kit to my mum and see what she decides to do with it cause frankly it doesn't tickle my fancy.
These will also probably be going to my mum, I don't drink tea or coffee so I've no reason to add sugar to anything.
Needs much be said about how much I'm going to enjoy inhaling eating these?

Have you had a Degustabox before? Would you get one in the future?

Fitness Fridays | #blogggersWLW

So I was going to do a food diary type thing, but I forgot to take pictures of my meals last week - whoops! But I decided to share with you a really quick and easy breakfast idea - I found this recipe ages ago online and I've basically just changed it to suit me.
When I say Banana pancakes most people look at me like I'm insane - but they are healthy, quick and so yummy. You only need three ingredients: 1 banana, 2 eggs and if you'd like to add some cinnamon for extra flavour - I recommend you do. If your looking for a meal that I completely guilt free and basically free of all bad stuff then I've got you covered.
So gather your ingredients, and if you  have one then grab a blender of some sort - I find it just makes the pancake mix smoother.
So first up, break the two eggs and put them into the blender (if you don't have a blender put them into a bowl) and then cut (mash) the banana and add to the eggs. So now you blend away. (Or mix if you don't have a blender)
Keep mixing until the mixture is smooth and has no lumpy bananas in it. Now is where you add the cinnamon, add as much or as little as you like - then mix again to spread out the cinnamon.
You'll want to use something on the frying pan to stop the pancakes sticking, I just used the Fry Light 1 Cal Spray.
This mix makes about 6/7 pancakes and takes no time at all. A few minutes to cook on both sides and your good to go. Then when you've cooked them all add fruit and some maple syrup and enjoy! Oh and make sure and have some kind of fruit drink as well - its not breakfast without it!

Enjoy!
