Going Cruelty Free

Cruelty Free Makeup and Skincare
For awhile now I've been toying with the idea of going vegan, but I'd maybe like to just say plant based, to cover any minor slip ups I may have. I stopped drinking milk and have dramatically reduced the amount of dairy I eat in the past few months due to looking into the dairy industry more - lets just say that although I bloody love cheese, for me personally I think it is a much more cruel and vile industry than the meat industry. More on that later if you want, but for now this post is mostly aimed at the beauty industry.

H&M Beauty

Back when the new maaaassive H&M opened in Glasgow David and I went in for a wee look - it was then that I had noticed the huge beauty section that they had (there was also a huge homewear section but thats for another time). When I got paid the other week I decided to get a few things from their beauty range, mostly masks though.
First of the masks are both for combination skin, both of these two are peel off ones. The yellow coloured pod is Raspberry Leaf - it says its got vitamin E for combination skin, it says it helps to clear away dead skin cells to leave skin fragrant and soft to the touch. Not sure how I feel about the fragrant part of it but hay ho, we'll see what its like to actually use. The other mask here is a Manuka Honey and Jasmine Blossom mask - it also removed dead skin cells, and again says it leaves your skin feeling fragrant and smooth.
I also got a Dragon Fruit and Fig Mask - this one is an exfoliating mask, this one says it gently exfoliates and removes dead skin cells, this one is designed for oily skin. The other mask here is Tea Tree cleansing peel off mask with peppermint oil, this helps to ease irritation & leaves skin feeling smooth and refreshed.
Last 3 items of this very mask heavy haul. Theres a Witch Hazel and Rosemary mask for oily skin - this helps to cleanse the skin, reducing unwanted oil leaving the skin feeling refreshed and clear. The final mask is a Witch Hazel and Willowherb mask, this one is for blemish prone skin - it contains soothing ingredients to remove excess sebum leaving your skin feeling refreshed and cleansed. The masks all cost £2.99 - apart from the Tea Tree one which cost £1.99.
The final thing I got was a Brush Cleansing Spray, I just thought this would be a good thing to have to refresh my brushes between deeper cleans. It was £3.99 so could be a good wee bargain if it does the job.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone talking about H&M's beauty line, what do you think about their products? Have you tried any of it before?

The Original Make-up Eraser | Review

The first time I saw the Make-up Eraser I was in Rome, I really wanted to try it but it wasn't exactly cheap. I'm glad I held off though as I got the one I have now I bought from Amazon for around £14. I honestly didn't really know what to expect from this - I know its meant to be some kind of wonder product for taking off your make-up, but I don't really hold my hopes up too high for it... Like I think I'll still need to do a second cleanse, but it'll be interesting to see how it does.
The Make-up Eraser is essentially a big face cloth, one side of it removes the make-up and the other exfoliates - although to be honest with you I think both sides feel exactly the same and for the life of me I couldn't tell what side was which. The cloth is meant to last for up to 1000 washes - essentially this should last me a good couple of years - cause really how am I gonna wash my face 1000 times in one year? The cloth is so so so soft, like unbelievably soft - I wonder if its one of those things that will get less and less soft as time goes by? Only time will tell I suppose.

The first time I used this I didn't feel that it did anything. Like at all. Zilch. Nada. I put it in the washing machine to see if that would help it. It seems to have done something to it, honestly though I'd have never thought that washing it would do anything to it, but somehow it has...
After leaving the cloth alone for what I'm pretty sure was months, I decided to give it another go, and I've honestly mixed feelings. It took my make-up off but it felt weird on my skin while I used it. Clearly its taken at least some of my makeup off, as its all over the cloth, but I'm not sure if it removed all traces of make-up. I'd definitely still want to do a second cleanse to ensure that its definitely all off. None of the makeup I've tried with this has been waterproof, I can though imagine that with a little encouragement that it could do a pretty good job or taking it off.
I'd love to say I really enjoyed using this and that it'll be an integral part of my routine... But, the weird way it feels on the skin puts me off it. I'll probably take it to Connors as an easy way of taking my makeup off, if not I'll keep it here and break it out when I'm playing about with my makeup.
Have you tried the Make-up Eraser? What did you think of it?

The beauty TAG

A while ago I was reading blogs and came across this TAG on someone's blog - I can't remember who's blog since I just copied the questions but I'm sure many people have done this one.

How many times do you wash your face daily?
I try to wash my face twice a day - about half the time I do manage to wash my face twice daily other times it's only once.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily or combination)
Oily. My forehead and cheeks get oily really quickly and my chin gets quite oily quickly as well. Recently though I've noticed my skin changing slightly - it's becoming slightly less oily and more normal I guess.

What is your current facial wash?
I only tend to have one facial wash going at a time - just now that one is soap and glorys peaches and clean :) I do love the garnier one - I can't remember the name of it, but I know it's in an orange bottle and is for oily skin.

Do you exfoliate?
Yes, I love exfoliating!

What moisturiser do you use?
Just now I'm using the Simple oil free moisturiser, it's nice but I'm not sure I'll buy it again.

Do you have freckles?
Yes, a few on my nose and on my cheeks.

Do you use eye cream?
I don't - but I'm going to buy one.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yes and no. My skin is really oily so it's more prone to spots. I get the odd spot but never a full on break out.

Did you ever use ProActiv?
Nope - it's so expensive! And I've never felt I needed something like that.

What foundation do you use?
I switch between the Lord and Berry foundation and the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum.

How about concealer?
I don't tend to use concealer - but when I do it's usually the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer.

Do you know your undertone colour?
I don't have a clue - and if I'm being honest I don't even really know what this is asking.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like them for a night out, I've not quite found the perfect pair yet.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yeah - but I don't. Unless it's not working for me anymore or irritates my eyes then it gets to stay.

What brand of mascara do you use?
Just now I'm using a Bourjois one - but my all time favourite is by YVES Rocher.

Sephora or Mac?
We can't get sephora in the UK so I'm going to have to say MAC.

Do you have a MAC Pro-Card?
Nope - I didn't even know there was such a thing.

What make-up tools do you use in make-up application?
I only own Real Techniques brushes.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yeah - I use primer for my eyes before applying shadow

What is your favourite eye shadow? (Colour or Shade)
Neutrals, my favourite palette is my Stila In The Light one. I want to try a naked palette but they are so expensive

Do you use pencil or liquid eye-liner?
Gel.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eye liner pencil?
Never - since I don't actually apply pencil liner

What do you think of pigment eye shadows?
I love them but too messy for me!

What is your favourite lipstick?
I love MAC Rebel or Revlons Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains.

How about lip gloss?
Not overly fond of it - but I do have a couple

What is your favourite blush?
My Milani blush or the blush from my sleek face form palette
Do you buy make-up on e-bay?
I have in the past but not recently

Do you like drug store make-up?
Yes! It's basically the only makeup I buy

Do you go to CCO's? (Cosmetic Company Outlets)
I didn't even realise we had these! I'll definitely be finding my local one and hitting it up

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes - I'd love to be better at it but the classes are really expensive

Are you clumsy in putting on make-up?
I don't think I am...

Name a make-up crime that you hate?
Um... I don't like seeing foundation that is waaaay to dark with bright pink barbie cheeks and foundation lips

Do you like colourful shades of make-up (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral tones?
For the eyes, I'm definitely more a neutrals girl, but for the lips I'm definately more willing to be much more adventurous

Which celebrity always has great make-up?
All of them?

If you could leave the house with just ONE Make-up item, what would you use?
Foundation

Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?
Yeah I think I could, if not with no makeup I could go with only wearing foundation

Do you think you look good even without any make-up on?
I don't look awful, bit I don't look great either ( I don't really mind going to the shops to get a few bits and bobs on with no makeup on)

In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?
Um either Bourjois, Rimmel or Maybelline. They have amazing products at great prices

What do you think of Make-up?
I really like makeup - You can do so much with it!

So there's the TAG - if you do it or have done it let me know and I'll be sure to check it out!
