12 days of lipstick #6 and #7

So yesterday by the time I got in I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep so I didn't have time to take pictures for and write up this post. So yesterday I had another 6hr shift and since it was Christmas Eve I decided I wanted to wear a red lip, a bold one. But y'know I wouldn't have had time to keep up a bold lip so I went for a nice red lip gloss.
Sorry that this picture isn't very clear.
The one I decided on was the Australis Mint Condition Lip Gloss - I was sent this in a swap about a month ago. Its a lovely red, not to bright and doesn't require a lot of touch ups since the colour is quite staining. I applied it three times yesterday: morning, noon and evening.
Today, Christmas Day, I decided I'd wear my new lipstick that my mum gave me in my stocking. It was the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in the colour Dark Night Water-loops. This is just such a beautiful dark purple that fades out to a dark ruby pink. If you don't have it you really should get it.
I hope you don't mind the selfie with my gran, its the only picture with me wearing it that I have.
I'll see you for day 8 tomorrow!

Starting Off: Lips

Possibly my favourite make-up part. Lipstick. I know there is more to lip products than just lipstick, but come on guys lets be honest - Lipstick is the best part. I only own one lipgloss, so I'll probably not talk much about that.
Lip product wise there is so many options, from lip balm to lip stains. The possibilities for colours are near endless. If you have a colour in mind, a brand is bound to have a colour for you. Price wise as well there is something for all budgets, be you only wanting to spend a few pounds or having the ability to spend 20. I own two "high end" lipsticks, and the rest that I have are all under £10 - they could even be under £7/8.
I personally love MAC lipsticks - I may only own one real one but I find them to be amazing - they are on the pricier side, but they are so worth it. I have So Chaud, it is crazy pigmented and lasts a good 7 hours before I need to reapply - I went out with my friends one night and it lasted from when I put it on at 9pm till when I came in. It was also still visible on my lips the next day when I woke up!!
Lipstick wise, all brands sell them. I really love Maybellines choice of colours and the different types they have - Revlon also have amazing ones.

Along with getting them in stick form, they come in stain, balm, gloss, tint and a few more I believe. I think for beginners the pencil looking lip products are really good. I know Bourjois has some out - I've not actually tried them yet but loads of people rave about them - and Revlon have one as well. The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. Oh my oh my. These things are just phenomenal! They last a long time, smell lovely and come in quite a few different colours. They aren't maybe as pigmented as I'd like them to be but the colour pay off is pretty good.
I'm beginning to run out of things to say - I honestly never thought that would happen.
Lipliner wise, I wouldn't say it is a must have - I would put it down to personal preference. I personally don't use it, I don't even own a lip liner. Some love them, others just find it an unnecessary step.
One thing I would say is you really should prep the lips. Using a lip scrub once or twice a week before you apply lipstick, and then using a really good lip balm to moisturise your lips. Doing this helps your lipstick last so much longer than it usually would, and of course it makes it look so much nicer.
My final note shall be about how you can apply it, I think their are two options you can use. Firstly, being straight from the stick ( is it also called a bullet?), fairly easy - if you want a more exact finish then you could use the second option. That is using a little brush. I use my Real Techniques Detailer Brush to apply lipstick, I find it gives such a better finish than applying straight onto the lips.

So yeah, I hope this post has been of help to someone or been kind of interesting?

Milani Lipstick in Plumrose

So most people know that I am a massive lipstick lover. I have way to many lipsticks for one person, I probably never need to buy another lipstick again. Milani as a brand is one that we can't get in the UK and if we wanted to ship over we would have to spend quite a bit of money doing so. Last month I did a blog swap with Zoe, who was lovely enough to send me a few Milani products.

One of the products was a lipstick in the colour Plum Rose, this has fast become my favourite lipstick. Since receiving it I've worn it almost every day. Its quite different from the lipstick colours I usually go for - reds are my usual colour. The colour is a lovely dark pink, verging on purple - I also describe it as being a vintage/ dusty pink colour. The lipstick has pretty amazing pigmentation, so the colour looks brilliant on the lips. I have found though that you can make this quite dark in colour depending on how much/ heavily you apply.

I feel I should also mention that the stick smells amazing, I can't quite put my finger on what it exactly smells like but I think it smells like sweeties I used to eat when I was younger. You can smell it when it is on your lips, but the smell does fade after a short while of wearing.
It feels really lovely and creamy on the lips and I would say gives a good 3/4 hours before you would need to re-apply. I have worn this while having had something to drink and something to eat, I wouldn't say you need to re-apply right after food or drink but the colour does fade a little - and your cup or bottle will have the colour on it.
Again sorry but it was the best picture I could get of the lipstick colour

If I ever find myself in the States I will determinately be picking myself up some of these, and if this one ever runs out I may find myself having withdrawals.

Lipstick Love

Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm a lipstickaholic. My love affair with lipsticks is one that is making my bank balance rather sad. Over the last few months I have considerably increased my lipstick collection. I have sticks, stains, pencil style ones and glosses. I will admit that the majority of my lipsticks are red. I own both high end and drug store lipsticks, though most of them are drug store. I'm the type of girl that would rather buy 2 or 3 cheaper lip sticks rather than buying one high end one.
I'm going to show the ones I have by splitting them up into brands, I think that will be the easiest way to show them and that way as well I wont be all over the place, also if I have multiple colours I can talk about them all in the one go rather than doing each of them one after another.

Revlon Lip Butters

I have only have two lip butters, one of which may have gone missing from my mums make-up bag and some how found its way to mine. Cotton Candy is the colour I would reach for if I were only wanting a slight wash of colour. Its a really lovely light pink colour, I adore it especially for those days where I can't really be fussed trying to apply lipstick carefully. One of my favourite colour that I have is Candy Apple, its a beautiful red colour, I think it maybe has slightly orangey undertones. Its a beautiful red colour, I think its more wearable than some of my other reds since its not quite as bright.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I got this awhile ago when they originally came out, and recently I have rekindled my love for them. I only have the one colour from the collection since at the time that I got this the colours were quite limited. I really like the smell of these, the smell very minty some people don't like that but I love it. The colour lasts for a very long time and I find that you don't need to touch it up very often. I have the colour Romantic, its a red - who would have guessed -its a lighter red, so again is more wearable than most other reds.

Revlon Colour Lustrous Lipsticks

I've never had one of these lipsticks before, at least until recently. I bought this because of the colour, Kiss Me Coral, it is such a beautiful burnt orange colour. From what I can tell it is quite long lasting. Honestly though because of the colour I couldn't care less how long it lasted, since this is maybe the most beautiful colour I own.

Maybelline Colour Sensational

I have the colour 540 Hollywood Red, this colour is a dusty pink colour. I think it is maybe the most sophisticated colour I own, its a very grown up colour. I don't wear it very often but when I do I feel so grown up and happy. Its one of the lipsticks I wear to feel a little more confidant with out being bold in a red lip.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick

This is one of the newer additions to my collection. I would say that the colour is a dark berry red, the colour is really pigmented and lasts a fair while, I would say you only need to touch this up once of twice through out the day.

Rimmel Apocalips

As soon as these came out I was desperate to get my little paws on them, and boy am I glad that I did. My mum has some of the colours and I got a couple. The ones I have are Stellar and Big Bang. I have a whole blog post on these since I loved them so much, so if you are interested you can go check that out if you like. Stellar is such a beautiful colour, its very much so a pink colour but I think it has red in it to- as my mum was convinced that it was a red shade. Big Bang is an amazing bright red colour. They last a long time since they are like a gloss and stain hybrid. They are very creamy and they are surprisingly moisturising.

Barry M Lip Paints

I have 3 lipsticks by Barry M, the first of which I've had for a couple of years - maybe not as long but I've had it for awhile. I used to use this religiously, every day for months. I've only got a little bit left of it, I don't know what the shade is since the name has rubbed off, but its the green on that turns pink. I loved using this since it would get darker throughout the day - it also takes a heck of a lot to take it off (I think its like a stain).
Another I have was a complete fluke buy, I don't know if I like the colour or not. The colour is shade 53, it is a pinky coral colour and it is unlike any colour I have ever bought or worn. I think that may be half the reason I'm unsure of it, due to the fact that I more so wear reds.
The final Barry M lipstick I have is in the shade 121, this is a bright red colour. I think the amount of red lipsticks I have is ridiculous. I this is quite a matte colour, and it is quite drying - which is sad since its such a lovely colour ( I have really dry lips normally so this really isn't good for my wee lips).

Benefit Lip gloss

This is the only proper gloss that I own, I have dandelion. I wear it over matte red lipsticks, just a little in the middle of my lips to give just a bit of depth and shine.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick

Another of my many eBay purchases, this is maybe one of my best purchases. I got it for a total bargain, I still class this as a high end purchase - I paid £12 for it so its kind of a joke - this is like my baby. The packaging is beautiful and the formula is so creamy and lovely.

MAC Lipstick

Yet again another eBay purchase, for a few pounds I got my hands on one of the limited edition Lady GaGa lipsticks. The one I have is in the shade Sheer Plum. This looks nothing like a plum colour when you just look at it, when you apply it though it looks slightly more plumy. I would say this is not a plum colour and more so a  pink with orange undertones. I've not used this in a fair while so I've not got much of a clue when it comes to its lasting, but it is a very creamy lipstick.

ELF Matte Lip Pencil

I have not used this in a very long time, the colour is natural, it is a nude lip colour. I've become much more of a red and orange colour lipstick gal, so nude colours have been pushed aside and hidden away in the back of a box.

Are you a lipstick addict like me?
