Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer Review

I have a horrible problem with buying things, putting them in a drawer and forgetting about them. This concealer is one of the products I bought, never used and then forgot about. The Kick Ass Concealer is like a 3 in 1 type thing: it has a powder, and 2 different colours of concealer. Its a 3 step process, each step is written on the front of the box, although which colour you use for what did baffle me a little at first - I was just being silly though.

Step 1 is to apply the brightening under eye concealer. It's the peach coloured one, I don't know enough to explain why its peach but I suppose the colour will just cancel out and cover dark circles? The concealer is incredibly creamy, and blends really easily. I think I maybe like this for the under eyes as much - if not more - than my Seventeen concealer. I've not noticed this creasing, and if you were maybe worried about it then you could always set it with powder.
Step 2 is the other concealer is pretty close to my skin colour. Its a pretty full coverage concealer - this makes it great for covering spots and redness. Its not nearly as creamy as the under eye concealer, but it is still pretty easy to blend.

Step 3 is a setting powder, perfect just for making extra sure that the concealer isn't going to move. This really helps my make-up stay in place, which is really helpful for me since my skin is incredibly oily and make-up usually just slips off my face.

I've used this a few times now, and from what I've tried of it I find it slightly to dark for me. The under eye concealer is pretty darn good in the grand scheme of things, I think I maybe like it as much - if not more - than my Seventeen Phowarr Paint. It blends pretty seamlessly, brightens the eyes and hides any nasty dark circles. The blemish concealer I'm not overly fond of, I find its a little dark for my skin and doesn't blend as easily, I just couldn't seem to get it to blend properly for me - I always could see the edges of it, maybe I'm just doing something wrong? Who knows. I like it, but I'd rather just have the under eye concealer if I'm honest.

Soap and Glory - One Heck Of A Blot Powder

For the longest time I've been using the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, always loving it. But always wanting more from it. I always found it very powdery, more recently I found it left visible powder on my face. Leaving my face looking chalky and sometimes even caked. Not cool.
I had always seem people talk about Soap and Glorys powder, and after hearing Essiebutton talk about it again I decided to go ahead and buy it. One Heck of A Blot, oh my.  You perfect little powder.
I will say right now, it is quite a bit more expensive than Stay Matte - its £12 - almost 3 times more expensive. But to be quite honest with you, it is totally worth every penny you pay.

The packaging is the typical retro style packaging that is usual for Soap and Glory, it love it. It is very unique, and quite quirky. The powder itself, has as you can see the word powder embossed into it. This like with all designs on powder products, fades after about 6 uses. 

The powder is so finely milled, such an overused word for face powders, but it is really the only way to describe it. When you apply this you don't even notice the powder on your skin, unlike the Stay Matte one. It also makes your skin feel really soft and silky, I do like a bit of baby soft skin.

The powder is crazy good at keeping oil at bay. Before I started using this, I would apply my make-up at 8am and by around 4pm my face would be really shiney and oily. Not exactly a good look. Now though, I don't start to get shiney until waaay after 6pm, and when I do start to look a bit oily it is only a tiny bit! Until I pay the price for an even more expensive one this is my new holey grail shine control product!

Boots Haul

I didn't break my spending ban I swear! I did however buy this stuff the day before I started my spending ban. I probably didn't need any of this, but I justified it by the fact that I had been wanting the things for quite awhile. So, yeah... I bought a few quite a bit of make-up and one bit of skin care - my skin care item was definitely not needed. I thought I would mention now that I am sorry at the terrible picture quality, didn't notice how bad they were till after I uploaded. Also sorry for the next picture, it wasn't on my camera so I had to re-take it hence the different location.

I've never been one for doing anything with my eye brows - at least not on a daily basis. But I decided while having a little look around Boots that I would maybe try some eye brow products. The ones I bought were from Maybelline, I think they are relatively new? I got the Maybelline Master Shape brow pencil since it looked pretty good and was really affordable at just £2.99. I got the colour Soft Brown, I'm not 100% sure if this is the right colour for my brows - but they only have two colour choices and this was the darker of the two. I'm going to give it a go though and see how it goes.

I also bought the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara. I got the colour Medium Brown, and again I'm not 100% sure if this is the right colour for me. They had a few colour options, and this looked like it should be my colour - I'm not sure though. Hopefully it does match my eye brow colour though, loads of people have been talking about this and I hope it is as good as they have been saying. It was £4.99, so even if it doesn't suit me then it's not like I've wasted a fortune on it.

I also got myself a couple of Soap and Glory products, I have been wanting to try some Soap and Glory make-up for so long, I don't really know why I haven't picked anything up from them before. I love Soap and Glory bath and body stuff, so I'm hoping I love the make-up just as much. The first item I got was the Kick Ass Concealer, this hasn't been on my "want" list for as long as some other things but it has been on there for quite awhile. It got the colour Light, this looks like a pretty impressive little concealer. Its a three step concealer kit - can I call it a kit? Step 1 and 2 are the concealers, one is a slightly pink toned and the other is more yellowy. Does anyone know what the different concealers are for? Step 3 is a little setting powder, so your concealer stays in place. There is a little powder puff type thing in the powder section - the powder is in a flip up section above the concealers. In the concealer section there is a decent sized mirror. The concealer is quite compact, its smaller than the palm of my hand so if you want to take it about with you, then you can with ease. It costs £10 to buy, I got mine from Boots while they had a buy one get 2nd half price so I got this for £5. The packaging is nice as well, but I won't go into that just now otherwise this post will be crazy long.

Also from Soap and Glory I bought One Heck of a Blot, this is probably the item that has been on my wish list for the longest. And now I finally have it! I have Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, I like it don't get me wrong, but I think it could be better. I've wanted this for ages because some people say that they do think it is better than Stay Matte. It is a little bit more expensive than the Rimmel one, as this one is £12 to buy, so hopefully it is worth the money. The packaging is super cute - what else can you expect from Soap and Glory.

The last couple of make-up bits I got were from Seventeen. These haven't been on my wishlist for very long - a couple of weeks probably. Ever since I saw these I wanted to try them. What can I say I love make-up. Some people buy shoes or bags - I buy make-up. Seventeen have been brining out a lot of products recently, I've not tried many of them but these caught my eye. The Phwoarr Paint - a heavy duty under eye concealer - and the Flawless Poreless Primer. I got the phwoarr paint in the shade fair, since that was the lightest one. I've never had a problem with dark circles or anything before but the early university starts and the lack of sleep is beginning to get to me and my eyes are looking a little dark. The phwoarr paint costs £5.49, pretty good for a good under eye concealer.

My make-up does not stay on my face very long, not at all. Slightly annoying, as by around 3pm I'm left looking washed out and extremely tired. I've tried most cheaper primers with no luck so far. The Flawless Poreless Primer will hopefully do something to help my make-up last longer. It feels really creamy, I don;t have a problem with pores so I'm hoping this still does something for me. This costs slightly more than the concealer at £5.99. Its super cheap, so its worth a go.

The last thing I bought was the La Roche-Posay Efficlar Duo, again university life has not been treating me to well. Late nights, early morning, excessive amounts of alcohol - that is never a good idea - and eating badly has made my skin oilier and spottier than usual. I really only decided to buy this as it was cheaper than usual - £9.75. Hopefully this will balance out my skin, it certainly couldn't make it any worse.

Everyday Make-up

When it comes it my everyday make-up I'm very minimalistic, I go for a natural look and try to put as few things on my face as possible.  I don't tend to use a make-up bag very often, but I have been trying to use one. My make-up bag is one I got off eBay, its originally from No7, it wasn't very expensive- no more than about £5.

It is looking a little dirty in places, but I think it does show that it is being loved and used if it shows a little bit of wear. I bought it because I really liked how it looked, its a lovely blue colour with scallop detailing. Since I'm beginning to use my make-up bag I thought I would show you my daily make-up. 

I think my bag is a really good size, I wouldn't take this out with me though since when I go out I don't tend to do anything with my face. Maybe touch up my lipstick, nothing much though. 

Face Products

Maybelline Super Stay 24Hr Foundation - I have rather oily skin and decided my old foundation ( Benefit Hello Flawless) wasn't working for me any more, it just seemed like my foundation wasn't staying on my face. So I bought this one since it claims to last a very long time, it does say suitable for all skin types, but I found it was really good for my skin. I would highly recommend this to any one with oily skin, the colour range is extremely good, I have 005 light Beige and it is practically identical to my skin tone. 

Rimmel Stay Matte Power - I use this to control my oily skin, this is the best powder I have tried. Granted I haven't actually tried many powders. But of the few I have tried this is the best one. For me anyway. Its highly affordable, I bought the transparent one since I'm too lazy to find my own shade. 

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - I bought this purely down to the fact that everyone and their grandmother talks about this in the blogging world. I think I maybe bought a shade to dark, even though the one I bought is 2, which is still classed as light. I am able to work with it, but I will be getting the lighter one. Its a good concealer, there are probably better ones, but this is cheap and does the job.

Sleek Contour Palette - This is an amazing little palette, three products in one. I think for the price ( around £6/7) this is utterly and totally the best thing ever. Its a contour, highlight and blush all in the one palette. The colours are brilliant for my complexion and I am so glad I bought it. 

Eye Products 

Maybelline Gel Liner - I bought this on impulse one day, didn't need it and to be honest at the time I didn't overly want it. I'm glad now I bought it. Its not the best gel liner, I will admit. I tried my friends L'Oreal gel liner and that was amazing - I really want to pick it up. I've found that this gets a little dry and hard the longer you have it, which is a little disappointing, but its the best liner I've found to do flicks and stuff so I keep it around. 

Smashbox Photo finish Lid Primer - I bought this little sample size(really should read the descriptions of things) off eBay a little while ago. I like using this before I apply eye shadow, I find it does help eye shadow last that little bit longer. 

Maybelline 24 Hr Colour Tattoo - I Love the colour tattoos, the pigmentation is amazing and they last ages and ages. I have a couple of these but I use On and on Bronze most days, its a really nice bronze colour, I think it looks like it has silvery/ gold parts in it sometimes. 

Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp - I've recently switched back to using this bad boy, after a long period of using Maybellines Rocket. I had forgotten how good this is. It gives you big, thick, long lashes. I adore this, it gives me the lashes I've always wanted. 

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kajal - I like this little nude pencil for my lower lash line. I don't know why I use it or what made me start using it, probably YouTube. It stays for a very very long time and I've never found myself needing to re-apply this. 

Lip Products

Maybelline Colour Sensation Lipstick - I got this off eBay for a few pounds awhile back. The colour is a dusty pink, I didn't have a colour like it so decided like any other rational person that I must have it. The colour is 540 Hollywood Red, despite the name I would say this is not a red lipstick. I think its a very grown up colour and is quite sophisticated. 

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter - I am a huge fan of lip butters, this is probably one of my favourites. The colour I have been wearing a heck of a lot is 035 Candy Apple. Its a lovely red, I think you could make quite a sheer red with this or a really bright one, depending on how heavily/ how much you apply. This is probably one of my favourite lipsticks. 

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - If I'm ever wanting something quick to put on I always reach for this, I never need to blot it or tidy up around my lips, I don't think I have ever gone over the line with this. This is the only shade of this that I have, the one I have is 045 Romantic. Its a lovely red, nothing to bright like some reds can be and it is very moisturising on your lips. 

Benefit Dandelion Lip Gloss - This is the only lip gloss I own, I use this only occasionally. If I want a glossy lip - which I 9/10 don't, I much prefer matte lips - then I will put this over the top of what ever I am wearing on my lips. The colour is quite light so you could probably wear it over any lip colour. 

Jason Lips Bee Healthier balm - I use this every day, several times a day. I hate having sore cracked lips and this is just the thing I need to prevent that from happening. I got this in a glossybox last year and have only recently been using it. It smells lovely - like a after eight - and really nourishes the lips. 

Brushes

Real Techniques Buffing Brush - I use this 99% of the time to put on my foundation, the other 1% of the time is when I'm to lazy to use a brush so use my fingers. I really like the real techniques brushes, they are really soft and give such a lovely finish. 

Real Techniques Contour Brush - I use this with my sleek palette, its probably not the best idea to use the one brush with 3 different things, but awk well. I just find that it does the best job of putting my blush and stuff on. 

Maybelline Gel Liner Brush - This little brush came with the gel liner it does the job and does it well so I've stuck with it. Until I find a brush that is miles better then I shall continue to stay with this brush. 

Eye Lips Face Total Face Brush - I use this with the Rimmel Powder, it doesn't give off any bristles and is relatively soft. Its an okay brush for powder.

Rimmel | Stay Matte Pressed Powder

For a fair few years I have used Rimmel Clear Complexion pressed powder, recently I have been having a really hard time with my oily skin and this powder wasn't helping me. I was in the market for a new one, since the one I was using was all broken and fiddly to use.

I had decided while shopping to buy the Stay Matte powder as it would be perfect for my oilier than a chip
pan skin. I picked it up in the shade 001 Transparent, since I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered trying to find my shade( it was also the same shade as the Clear Complexion one). Its described a "a long lasting pressed powder", I do think it keeps my skin looking shine free for a fair few hours. I'd say about 6-8 hours after putting this on my skin begins to get shiney and oily and just plain bad. It does say "Up to 5 hours natural shine control" so I'm not annoyed by how long I get, in fact I'm quite impressed.
Because of my skin my make-up never stays very long, I think this powder helps my make-up stay on my skin so much longer. I used a big fluffy brush to apply this after my foundation and concealer. I think finishing my face off with this has probably helped set it.

For £3.99 this is a total bargain, you couldn't ask for a better product for this price. This is a total god send product, anyone with oily skin should head out and buy this wee beauty.
